Early Life and Career Beginnings

Heidi Gardner was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where she developed a love for comedy early on. Inspired by legends like Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner, she pursued journalism at the University of Missouri before shifting her focus to acting. She honed her craft at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco and later joined The Groundlings, LA’s iconic improv troupe.

At The Groundlings, Gardner co-created memorable characters like “Chrissy,” a ditzy influencer, and “Angel,” a hyperactive teen. These roles showcased her knack for blending absurdity with relatability, paving the way for her eventual SNL audition.


Breakthrough on Saturday Night Live
